Mauritius Echo Parakeet (Male) Ceramic Bird

Mauritius Echo Parakeet, often confused with its cousin, the Indian Ringed Neck Parakeet, our green parrot is endemic to Mauritius. The echo parakeet lives in the forests of the Black River National Gorges Park and in the Ferney Mountain range. In the 1980s, the population of Echo Parakeet was estimated at around 8-12 individuals. The population has increased to 540 in 2011. The Echo Parakeet is very distinct from the Indian ringed neck that we see in our towns. The female Echo Parakeet has a black beak while the male is orange-red.
