Mauritian Fody (Male) Ceramic Bird

The Mauritius Fody is often confused with the Madagascar Fody. This bird is distinguished, for the male, by its red head and its olive body during the breeding period. Like many of our bird species, the Mauritius Fody has experienced a decline in its population. It was estimated that only 98-129 pairs remained in 2003. With the intervention of environmentalists, the species was able to regain the upper hand and now there are approximately 400 individuals.
